Question 1: I’m a complete beginner and don’t know how to choose meditation audio. Do you have any suggestions for a daily practice routine? What is needed to start meditation?
Answer: Meditation doesn’t require any special foundation. Beginners can start with basic methods like body scanning and focusing on the breath. The most important thing is consistency; with time, you will see great benefits.
Question 2: How many times a day should I meditate? Is more better?
Answer: You can arrange your practice based on your situation. Even a short 10-minute session can help you calm down in the midst of a busy world. There’s no need to focus on achieving a certain number of sessions. What matters is that you are present and engaged during each practice. In fact, every moment in life can be a “practice.” When you practice awareness, you’ll see how each thing happens in the present moment and gradually notice thoughts and emotions you might have hidden before.
Question 3: Should I meditate at the same time every day, or can I meditate anytime?
Answer: Meditation practice doesn’t have to be done at a fixed time. You can meditate whenever you feel anxious, stressed, or distracted. However, when you're just starting, it’s a good idea to set aside a regular time and practice in a relatively stable environment. Choose a quieter time, such as in the morning, during lunch breaks, or before going to bed, in a peaceful environment. This will help you form a consistent meditation habit.
Question 4: I’ve been practicing with audio for a few days, once or twice a day, but I haven’t had the special experience that others talk about. Is my perception particularly dull, or am I doing something wrong?
Answer: Everyone experiences meditation differently, and it’s perfectly fine if you don’t feel anything “special.” In meditation, we recommend accepting your feelings, whether they are positive, negative, or even neutral. Meditation isn’t about having a special experience; it’s more like walking, eating, working, or exercising. In this process, we’re not seeking a particular feeling but trying to be fully present in the moment and treat ourselves and others with kindness.
Question 5: How long does it usually take to feel more peaceful?
Answer: The time it takes to feel more peaceful varies from person to person and also from session to session. Some people may experience peace quickly, while others may take longer. The important thing is to keep practicing. Even if you don’t feel peaceful, that’s okay. Over time, you’ll find that it becomes easier to feel calm.
Question 6: I often get distracted or have random thoughts during meditation. What should I do?
Answer: It’s very common to get distracted during meditation. The key is to notice where your mind has wandered, and gently bring your attention back without blaming yourself. If it’s hard, take a deep breath. Deep breathing helps bring your attention back to your body. In fact, the process of noticing distractions and gently returning to focus is a very important part of meditation. With continuous practice, you will gradually find it easier to concentrate.
